What You Missed

In the past you could   catch up on club 'goings on' by reading the minutes which only captured the business portion of our meetings.     We   have   added a new feature   which   includes information gleaned from our wonderful speakers.   This is What You Missed!

January 2008

Dr. Virginia DeChant presented a lively and informative   discussion on Winter and Your Horse.

February 2008

Jessica Pittman provided a very interesting talk on all things gaited, the nature and difference of the gaits, bit choices and some facts on training and riding the gaited horse.   If you are all about gaited too and need help or advice please contact Jessica and she will help get you there smooth and comfy.

May 2008

Last nite a group of Rusty's had the honor of meeting 16 year old Nina Ligon who this past December traveled to the Southeast Asian Games in Pattaya City, Thailand.   Nina and her beautiful partner "Winnie" went home with the team and individual gold metals.   We were treated to not only Nina and her mom Pan's adventures with regard to the details of 'shipping' a horse to the far east but also to the beauty of the Thai country and other most interesting travel details.   The they presented professional video of her performances including the dressage, cross country and stadium jumping portions of the event. I think most of us left there feeling we went on a virtual vacation.   Go to www.ninaligon.com   where you will find her competition journal.

Also, I highly recommend her video Journey to the Sea Games.   While on her site click the video link and take a   virtual equestrian vacation with Nina! What a wonderful   story about a beautiful young girl and her horse(s)!   Go grab a cup of coffee and enjoy this inspirational and fun memoire.

June 2008

Many thanks to the folks at Virginia Truck and Trailer who came (with trailer!) and gave us a very informative overview of trailer maintenance and safety. The meeting participants adjourned to the Markel Parking lot for a hands on discussion of the many ins and outs of trailer care.  Va Truck and Trailer gave us a wonderful two-part trailering checklist available here, Part 1, and here, Part 2.

The games clinic was a big HIT! We all had fun, trying our skills and learning new games. We will definetly do this again. Krista Muldoon our host, is working on putting on a real big clinic and competition. News to come. Thanks to Krista and Jen for hosting.

June 29th at Terri Escobar's Springfield Farm. Bruce Lawson, a real cowboy, gave us a wonderful western lesson. Did some round pen work with three riders, and then gave us a lesson before AND after lunch. I was pooped!! Great lesson. Looking forward to the next one. Keep your eye on the events page!
